A Breather is a kinetic sculpture made using a tree that fell during the storm Eunice in 2022.
The tree was de- and reconstructed, supported by a steleton and hung upside down in the foyer of the hospital IJsselland Ziekenhuis. A motor salvaged from an old hospital bed expands and contracts the branches, connecting humans and trees with what we have in common: breath. The sculpture was produced in collaboration with/for artist Werner van der Zwan. Comission by Vrienden van het IJsselland Ziekenhuis.
